How the years, months and days are counted

Age is counted the way registries do it: complete years first. From your most recent birthday anniversary, complete months are counted, and what is left is expressed in days. When a month needs to be borrowed, the calculator uses the actual length of the previous calendar month — so February, leap years and 31-day months are all handled correctly.

Complete years are counted between your birth date and today, then complete months from your last birthday anniversary, then remaining days. Borrowing uses the true length of the previous calendar month.

＋Does the calculator handle month-end birthdays?

Yes. Born on the 31st of a month? The calculator handles months without a 31st correctly, and 29 February birthdays follow the 1 March convention in common years.
